John Christensen - Racing Manager

John Christensen – Racing Manager

Honor Roll Racing Manager John Christensen was born in Omaha, Nebraska.  John spent the majority of his early years in the industry following the local racing circuit in Nebraska: Fonner Park in the Spring, Aksarben in the Summer, and on to Columbus and Atokad in the Fall.

John excels at assessing the quality, durability, and athletic ability of young racing prospects.  John is also very strong at identifying patterns in previously raced stock that suggest a change in surface, distance or both will result in improved race performance and an increase in value.  Possibly John's most pronounced strength is his ability to identify what horses will do well on a particular circuit, raising the probability that owners will have a successful investment experience.  In general, John has an excellent overall knowledge of the Thoroughbred Racing Industry.  John is and always has been passionate about the sport of Thoroughbred racing and simply has a deep respect and love for the animals themselves.

In 1996, John moved to Kentucky and familiarized himself with the details of the local aspects of the sport, then went on to spend some time in Maryland in 1998 before returning to Kentucky in 2000.

In addition to Honor Roll Racing, John currently owns and  manages the first salt coldwater equine spa rehabilitation unit in the state of  Kentucky located at Churchill Downs Trackside.  The spa is the current standard for treating Thoroughbred injuries in England and is on its way to becoming the future of injury prevention and treatment in U.S. racing.  It is the complementary nature of John’s various related areas of expertise, his love and knowledge of the sport, management experience, no quit attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence that makes John a trustworthy and reliable partner and manager.
